Interactive Tourist Info-Point and Message Board for Citizens
Brief
Small Switzerland town installed wall mounted outdoor digital sign with low impact on the appearance of the surrounding, to promote local businesses and to interactively communicate with its citizens.
Situation analysis
Gstaad-Saanenland Tourismus wanted to establish communication channel with tourists and its citizen. For this multipurpose function classic printed poster was not a solution. Communication channel had to display specific information for specific public. They found a solution in an emerging industry of digital signage.
But digital signs are complex technology and especially LCDs are really not meant for outdoor use. This could be even bigger problem because of a wide temperature range in town Gstaad where tourism thrives through the whole year.
Solution
Outdoor sunlight readable 46” LCD digital sign was placed at the visible location right next to the post office. The sign uses imotion FLOW technology which is based on filtered airflow ventilation. It automatically regulates speed of ventilators (level of cooling) based on real-time requirements within the housing. Same goes with heating. Heaters are automatically turned ON/OFF based on actual temperature. This efficiently (with low power consumption) solves problem with wide temperature range and at the same time ensure optimal lifetime of the critical components such as LCD.
Advantage of this outdoor digital sign is also in its multifunctionality. It’s much more than just a tourist’s InfoPoint. It’s also a modern communication between municipality and its citizens. They can read about novelties in Gstaad such as information about the new Post office next door.
Public display
Gstaad-Saanenland Tourismus choose our imotion FLOW 46” Portrait Wallmount digital sign with touch screen. The idea was for screens to be built for harsh environment, placed with low impact on the appearance of the surroundings and be able to interactively communicate with different audiences.
